Seasonal Allergies

Published on May 15, 2018 in Cat Health, Dog Health

Allergy season is upon us, and we aren’t the only ones suffering. Dogs and cats can experience seasonal allergies just like we do. For humans, seasonal allergies tend to cause respiratory symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, and congestion. For animals, the most common symptoms tend to be skin and ear related. Here are a few things to watch out for this spring:

  • Generalized redness (eyes, ears, chin, paws, belly, genitals)
  • Generalized itchiness
  • Excessive licking or chewing on self (especially paws)
  • Scratching ears or shaking head
  • Hair loss or thinning
  • Runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing (less common than in humans)
If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms, give us a call! We would be happy to discuss how we can make your pet more comfortable this spring.
